MIKE TALIAFERRO

President

President of Amherst Oil and Gas, started in the industry in 1981 as a petroleum engineer for onshore and offshore drilling ventures.

Mike graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering Technology from Louisiana Tech University in 1981. Going right to work for Mobil Oil after graduation, he worked in workover and completions onshore and offshore for several years and then moved into production operations on offshore platforms as a Production Supervisor. While at Mobil he severed on several teams that worked on efficiencies and increasing productivity. Mike left Mobil in 1996 and worked in finance for 2 years.

In 1999, he started consulting in East Texas and drilled, completed and stimulated Cotton Valley, Travis Peak and Pettit wells. In 2002, Mike began consulting for Dale Operating in the East Texas Basin and managed all operations for several Cotton Valley and Travis Peak projects. In 2004, he became an employee of Dale Operating and later an equity partner. During this time the Barnett Shale project started. The project was in urban Fort Worth, Texas and surrounding cities. Mike supervised all the drilling and completions and pipeline infrastructure for this project and was fortunate to have a great team working with him. Mike designed the fracture stimulations for the Barnett Shale wells and designed the simultaneous fracing of 2 wells and which became a technique now called a simo-frac. Dale Operating sold those assets to Chesapeake Energy in 2006 and began working in a land partnership with them in the Barnett Shale, Haynesville Shale in Louisiana, Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania and the Utica Shale in Ohio where Mike coached and oversaw those activities with another great team.

Mike retired from Dale Resources in 2010 and now does some specialized consulting for stimulations and prospect generation for oil and gas drilling opportunities.
